Self-Care Hacks podcast episode 005 will take you through the steps necessary to set (and reach) achievement goals. We need achievement goals to help give meaning to our lives.

What Exactly IS an Achievement Goal?

We set an achievement goal when we want to accomplish something that doesn’t fall into the habit goal category. Want to start a blog? Maybe you’d like to write a book or go back to school to earn a degree. Whatever the case, you’ll want to set an achievement goal.

An achievement goal acts as a roadmap or plan for accomplishing our dreams. You’ll learn about staying in your zone of proximal development and what hacks work for sticking to your plan.

For years I’ve made fun of men who wander aimlessly while driving instead of stopping to ask directions. Back before GPS, of course. At the same time, I spent a good deal of time wandering aimlessly through life because I didn’t set achievement goals.

Taking care of yourself means you spend the time to think about what you want to achieve and what needs to be true in order to make that happen.

What would you like to achieve in the next month, year, two years, or four years? Sometimes achieving new things requires us to form new habits and upend our lives a little (or a lot), but if we’ve considered our why, we understand how our lives will change for the better when we achieve our goal.

You can join the Self-Care Hacks Facebook Group and share an achievement goal there, or respond in the comments.
