Taking care of yourself physically during a crisis seems like a no-brainer. But trust me, it’s not as easy as that. Find out what happens when I failed to take care of myself physically during a cancer crisis on today’s podcast episode.
Why You Need to Take Care of Yourself Physically
It took nine months to lose my health. No, I wasn’t pregnant. My husband did have cancer, though. When I swung into full crisis mode to journey with him, I forgot about the importance of taking care of myself physically.
In just under a year, he went from diagnosis to remission, from remission to circling the drain, and from circling the drain to a fragile recovery. During that time, people told me to ‘take care of myself,’ but I had no idea what they meant.
I traveled each step of the way with him, but I cut out all the extras in my life. I discovered during Pedro’s recovery that I’d let my physical health sink to its lowest point in my life. It took me years to recover it. To this day I find myself much more susceptible to physical reactions to stress.
Today’s podcast will help you avoid the pitfalls I made. Learn how to take care of yourself physically, in spite of a crisis. In fact, times of crisis require that we take even better care of ourselves in order to help those around us.
