Do negative family interactions make you hate the holidays? Try these six self-care hacks for improving your family gatherings. It’s not too early to start planning for a happy holiday season.
Ever Thought of Improving Your Family Gatherings?
Family. We love them, yet they know how to push our buttons and drive us crazy. A little advanced planning (starting in September or even earlier) can go a long way towards improving your family gatherings. If you’re an introvert like me, it takes a lot of time to think about and mentally adjust for the energy expenditure the holidays require. Especially if we plan on spending time with our quirkier or more opinionated relatives. And especially when I already know politics will come up (I don’t have much in common with many family members’ political views). But if I plan ahead, I can figure out responses to the usual flare-ups that occur over the holidays.
I can’t anticipate EVERY possible negative scenario, but I can plan my reaction to possible negative scenarios. And planning ahead goes a long way towards improving family gatherings. The holiday season holds enough stress without adding relational stress as well.
Listen to today’s podcast for six hacks to help you in your quest to improving family gatherings this holiday season.
