I Made it Up
So, what IS a self-care quotient? It’s a number that represents how well you take care of yourself. If you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and worn out, chances are you need to learn to take better care of yourself.
I’m not a psychiatrist, but I do know a lot about self-care (mostly because I didn’t take care of myself for a very long time and I paid the price).
If we don’t take care of ourselves, we can ruin our health, lose our joy, and drift about like a boat without an anchor. For me, that looked like gaining 60 pounds, mild depression, and a continual brain fog.
Once I embarked on a journey of self-care (not to be confused with self-indulgence), I learned just how important it is to take care of myself in four key areas. I call them MAPS–Mental, Artistic/Academic, Physical, and Spiritual.
Without these four pillars in my life, I get unbalanced and things start to slide.
The Skinny on Your Score
If you came here from the SurveyMonkey quiz, here’s the skinny on your score. If you found this page by random, you can sign up and take the quiz down there next to the sailboat at the bottom of the page.
If you scored between
- 0-50=You probably already feel like you’re sinking.
- 51-65=You’re on the path to taking care of yourself.
- 66-85=You could use a few pointers, but you’re doing well.
- 86-100=Congratulations! You’re a self-care hero!
